The imposition of kinesiology tape on the lower limb area

Swelling of lower limbs (Panch Taping)

Indications: acute injury of the lower limbs, soft tissue bruise, oedema of the lower limbs, lymphedema (in case of lymphatic stasis in oncology patients during post-operative period, this application should be used only after consultation with a physician)

1. Cut off 2–3 pieces of Panch tape approximately 90 cm long. The length of the pieces directly depends on the patient’s anatomic features.
2. Apply the base of the tape without tension in the region of inguinal and femoral lymph nodes (also it is possible to apply tape bases on higher located lymph nodes, e.g. iliac or abdominal).
3. Apply Panch tape with a minimal tension on the lower limb in the distal direction

Internal rotation of the lower limb

Indications: Rotation of the lower limb

1. This method requires one I-tape 80-90 cm long, depending on anatomic features of the patient.
2. Ask the patient to abduct his/her leg to the side and perform a maximal internal rotation.
3. Apply the base of the tape without tension at the level of medial malleolus. IMPORTANT INFORMATION!!! Application of the tape is performed in inwards direction.
4. Then apply the tape spirally with a 40 % tension towards the hip.
ATTENTION!!! For stimulation of the external rotation — perform the same actions but in the opposite direction.

Inflammation of sciatic nerve

Indications: inflammation of sciatic nerve

1. This method requires one I-tape approximately 90 cm long. The length of the piece directly depends on the patient’s anatomic features.
2. Apply the base of the tape in the region of nerve origin — sacral plexus.
3. Then apply the tape with a minimal tension according to the anatomy of sciatic nerve to the medial malleolus of tibia.

Oedema of the lower limbs

Indications: acute injury of the lower limbs, soft tissue bruise, oedema of the lower limbs, lymphedema (in case of lymphatic stasis in oncology patients during post-operative period, this application should be used only after consultation with a physician)

1. Cut off two pieces of the tape approximately 60 cm long. The length of the pieces directly depends on the patient’s anatomic features. Cut the tapes into 3-4 long strips. The tape base is 4 cm, and it is left integer. The width of cut tape strips should be 1.0 cm to 1.5 cm.
2. Apply the base of the tape without tension towards the nearest lymph node on the dorsal site. In this case, these are inguinal and femoral lymph nodes (also it is possible to apply the tape base on upper lymph nodes, e. g. iliac).
3. Apply the strips with a minimal tension on the lower limbs in the distal direction.
